About this website and the Online Campaign in North West Hampshire

"We're Keeping Young" is the slogan under which Sir George Young is campaigning for election as Member of Parliament for North West Hampshire. If you live in the Constituency you will already see our campaign posters, including some general "Conservatives" posters and the "We're Keeping Young" posters. This site provides the opportunity for any voter in North West Hampshire to:

Find out where you can meet Sir George (Campaign Diary)

Ask Sir George a question about either national or local policies (Ask a Question)

See information about different places in the constituency (Map and Places)

Get involved in helping to return Sir George as your Member of Parliament (Get Involved)

Learn what we are doing to help in neighbouring constituencies (Local Links)

Connect with what is happening in the campaign nationally (National Links)

The site has been developed by volunteers working with Sir George, who has run his own web site while sitting as Member for North West Hampshire in the last Parliament. We use technology and hosting provided by Loud-n-Clear.net, which enables Sir George and his team to maintain the site directly. We welcome your comments and questions, please address them to sgycampaign@sirgeorgeyoung.org.uk.

For the technically minded

To make the site easy to manage, the pages that we need to update most often are "data driven". That means that when Sir George or one of the campaign team wants to (say) add a new item to the diary, we go to a special, password-protected section of the site and fill in a simple form - date of the event, location, description - and the event is automatically added to the right place in the diary. We use the same approach to add and change links, news items etc. If we want to add a new page, this is another simple form-filling job. But this time with a "WYSIWYG" approach - What You See Is What You Get. A new page can be created and added to the site in just a few minutes, and without the need to learn about html. The form also allows us to add the "meta tags" that are so important to get a website into the search engines.
