I attended the launch at Battersea Power Station this morning - a site which symbolised out determination to regenerate the country. David was in very good form - dealing with the tricky questions from the press - were people prepared to share responsibility with the Government? Was it really possible to do more with less? The theme - asking people to join the government rather than just elect it - was a thoughtful one, and one that is unusual. I think it will resonate during the rest of the campaign - and will chime with that strong tradition of independence which characterises the British. The event was well-organised and good-humoured, and when it was over the Shadow Cabinet star burst throughout the country. I was despatched to South East London. Then back to North West Hants for the first of the hustings.
