Following the well-publicised problems suffered by Vic Pain - who lives in Trajan Walk - a meeting was held in Smannell Church Hall to see what more can be done to improve the quality of life of people living in the area. The meeting was chaired by Cllr Len Gates and attended by Sergeant Noble and PCSO Beth Williams.

About 30 people came along

"I took time off from campaigning to come and hear about the issues raised by constituents. The police made the point that, if people did not tell them of incidents, they could not respond. Some of those present countered by saying that they had given up telling the police, because of the absence of response."

Sergeant Noble explained that, with a new Chief Constable, different procedures had been adopted since the turn of the year; and Vic Pain reported that, so far as he was concerned, there had been a recent improvement.

"What struck me was that everyone in the hall knew the identity of the very small number of people who were at the heart of the problem. The police could not reveal the details of all the action being taken, but clearly proceedings are under way."

"Some of those at the meeting were supportive of the police - giving instances of prompt and effective intervention. I want to keep in touch with progress that is being made in tackling all the anti-social behaviour - some of it criminal."

VANDALISM & ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
ON THE
ROMAN WAY ESTATE

HAVE YOU BEEN THE VICTIM OF THE ABOVE OR DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE IN THIS NEIGHBOURHOOD WHO HAS?

Following The recent spate of damage to car tyres and paintwork, it is time to see what we can do to prevent further vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

Our local Councillors, our local Police Officers and other interested persons are inviting you to a meeting to be held on Sat 10 Apr at 3pm to be held in the Methodist Church in Smannell Road. (Next to the old infants school now being refurbished). Our MP has also expressed an interest in adding his support and hopes to attend. One of our Councillors, Len Gates, will chair the meeting.

Remember if the Police and the Council are not informed, they are not able to act for us. We need them and they need us.

Please come along with your list of vandalism and bad behaviour so that we can show the authorities the extent of our problems and show the perpetrators that we mean business.
